KNOW ONE
Know one is an independent solo work choreographed by Jeremy Beck for the 2018 New Zealand Fringe Festival.
Know one explores a solitary creative process. It is set in an undefined moment, where ideas co-exist in their conception and fulfilment.
What sparks an idea? Sitting in a certain place or position? When is the best time to act on that idea? How can I do it justice, by keeping it relevant or stimulating? If so how long is the product?
I’m not sure.. But I thought I’d give it a go.
“Solitude gives birth to the original in us, to beauty unfamiliar and perilous - to poetry. But also, it gives birth to the opposite: to the perverse, the illicit, the absurd.”
― Thomas Mann, Death in Venice and Other Tales
“Beck shines as a young creative force. Clever, humorous, and physically powerful, this show deserves to be seen. Blending sharp wit with striking movement, Beck crafts a performance that is both intimate and expansive - pushing the limits with undeniable charm and precision.”
James Calloway / 2018
